Home Education Skating Session, but everyone welcome
Friday 12.20 to 13.40 Bob Carter centre, Drayton Norwich
Toddler session 12.40 to 13.40 only £3 inc skate hire
For the last 2 years we have been asked by Home Educators if we will run a session during the day. In January 2018 we start a 4 week trial. We have decided to continue during school term whilst we get reasonable numbers.
The Bob Carter Centre at Drayton has a good floor and we have run Family sessions there for over 3 years. It has free parking.
It is a mixed age and mixed ability session. Everyone will start with the basics from how to get up by pushing on 1 knee to our more difficult grades. Children progress at their own speed because confidence comes with practice.
The session always starts with skating around to warm up and then we go under a pole as bending and controlling your skating using your knees is important.
We then play games to help people forget about their feet and focus on something else.
The session will then have a 30-minute skills session, tailored to the standard of each skater. We will progress through our 9 grades.
15 minutes or more optional games followed by general fitness or skating with friends.
Can you help us promote this session? We do not have the contacts but between you, you do
Only £4 pay at the door
As a Not for Profit group, we can keep prices low. £4 a session for skaters, parents and siblings watching are free. We allow parents to walk around to help those new to skating we demonstrate the best way to learn and how to minimise the chance of falling over.
Skate Hire £1
Subject to availability, but we have around 150 skates at each session.
Help from volunteers required
We will require volunteers.
Firstly, someone to check people in and take the money. Then as we develop we need teenagers or adults to help with games and teaching. Full support and training are given. It can be used as a Duke of Edinburgh activity.
